Basic 'Ericsson' settings should be fine unless you are trying to use GPRS in which case I'm sure Julie can help as she uses the same phone :)

Hi Katie

If you tell us how far you've got with this to date, it will be easier to help. A lot of different factors come into play, depending on your ISP for GSM, or network if you're intending to use GPRS, so I don't want to post info which may be irrelevant to you. If you've already tried settings and not got it working then post them here and we'll try to spot what's wrong.

First essential is to make sure your phone service provider has enabled your account for data communication.

GSM is generally fairly straightforward to set up. GPRS is less so - the settings I use for the R520 on the o2 network are detailed on Mike McConnell's website (under "General Info"):

Obviously these will differ if you are with a different service provider.

Faxing could be a problem - it's not something I've ever needed or really tried, but I know there are difficulties with some Ericsson phones. Can I suggest you take a step at a time and concentrate on getting a working e-mail and net connection for now?

Julie

Oops!

Mike has an uncanny knack of just beating me to a post! :D

Should have a fair bit to work on to get you going now, Katie.

the fax does not work What exactly do you mean? If you get a message about "No Carrier", this usually indicates that your phone hasn't been enabled by your network provider for "Fax" calls, which is not the same as being enabled for "Data" calls. Contact them and have "Fax" enabled, which might involve being supplied with an additional phone number for incoming fax calls.
