Gerhard jonasolof 12-18-2003, 01:49 PM I don't think the basemap needs to combine with the detail maps, ie you could have a pacific basemap with european detail maps. Sometimes maps will be read after a soft reset. Are you shure that your maps are unlocked for this iQue? funbob 12-18-2003, 01:56 PM You will need to obtain an unlock code for the iQue. http://shop.garmin.com/cartography/mapsource/default.asp?L=EN You can unlock a mapset for up to 2 devices at no charge. After that, it would seem to me that it would be no big deal to mix and match detailed maps from NA City Select and Europe City Select and upload them to the iQue. Wouldn't the iQue detect and use the detailed maps over whatever base map may be installed? jonasolof 12-18-2003, 02:04 PM Funbob, You're right. People have already reported such mixing. Furthermore, the world basemap can be loaded from the installation CD. Zonti 12-19-2003, 12:36 AM Thank you for your help! I think this is one of the best forum! Thank you very much Gerhard from Austria azorat 12-19-2003, 01:47 AM Been there - done that. I have a GPSV bought in Italy. It came with the European City Select. Then I have bought an IQUE in the USA and this one came with the USA city select. I had to unlock the USA for the IQUE so that I could load the software in the palm. Then I got my second unlockcode for the European city select - for the Ique serial number. (So far I did not bother unlocking the USA maps for the GPSV since it is unlikely that I will go there with my motorcycle, but potentially I could do that). Now the relation between the IQUE and the USA and European maps is this: both unlocked for that unit; I could load a piece of California and a piece of Italy. So ... yes - it can be done and it works. Ciao to all. Patgenox 12-19-2003, 02:35 AM Azorat.... let me welcome you! You are the 3rd Italian in this forum with an iQue..... I hope that Garmin plans to sell more than 3 units in Italy..... BTW I have city Navigator Europe installed on my iQue which came with North America City Select.... all is working fine. Ciao Max jonasolof 12-19-2003, 02:47 AM Hi, In case our italian friends didn't know (which they probably do) I just want to indicate the fine site of Roger Stweart: http://www.mobit.com It also has some good articles on various gps topics. I've met Roger at CebBit in Hannover (btw he is perfectly bicultural british-italian) and he is very interested in technical stuff, not only in selling. I think he'd prepared to help in matters such as these of unblocking different maps. Ciao Jonas Bruselas Patgenox 12-19-2003, 03:51 AM Thanks a lot Jonas, you really know lots of things, many compliments! In fact I knew already Mobit, it's very close to where I live, who I don't know is Roger..... so thanks for this additional info. Maybe I will involve him to help me in some matters. Thanks again Max PDA Street
