Palm IIIC OS upgrade problem

Hi, everyone
I tried to recently flash my Palm IIIC to the new OS 4.1. However, halfway my computer got hanged and the next moment, i realised that my Palm IIIC is now dysfunctional. I try hard resetting but to no avail. The power will not turn on with the power button too. The only way I can turn on the Palm is to ***** a pin into the reset switch behind and pressing the down scroll button simultaneosly. The palm will now turned on but it will show me a screen of gray bands. Nothing else I have tried to my knowledge has worked.
Could someone enlightened me what has happened and what is the remedy? Is there anyway to flash back a normal ROM image into the unit?

I do not wish to end up with a paperweight. Sad to say, the warranty has worn out too.

Lee,
The gray lines means your in DEBUGmode. No sweat. Start over. Leave the unit IN THE CRADLE and reinstall. Just follow the prompts and be patience. Right after you install desktop, you'll be prompted to do a hot sync. Do it but LEAVE unit in the cradle. I has the same problems at first but now it's easy when I follow prompts. It's gonna take about 15 minutes. Remember to leave the unit in the cradle.
