Hey I know we've had this discussion before but I'm starting it up before. I have a T|T3 and I have applications on my palm that I want to get rid of but they are in the ROM? JackFlash kills my palm so I don't want to use that but what app lets me get into the ROM?

Let me know!

Filez is free and will let you get into ROM. Read the manual and you should be able to figure out how to delete them but I do not: repeat do not recommend deleting ROM apps because they will end up being restored at some time in the future in the event of a hard reset.

filez can 'see' ROM apps, but it cannot alter then. I'm afraid that you'll have to wait until Brayder's apps can function with the T|T3.

JackFlash & JackFlash have been updated for T3.

JackSprat can remove languages and apps from ROM.

JackFlash allows one to use the extra ROM space for apps and data (read only?).

Brayder Enterprise Products (http://www.brayder.com/products/)

But I read on another site that the Beta might be buggy.

So if it was me, I'd wait awhile.

Why not just buy a bigger SD? Unless you're using SDIO, it's free for saving apps and data.

Don't do it!! I tried JackFlash Lite. Four hard resets later, my digitizer still fails to track properly on the lower 1/8 inch of the screen and Noah Lite crashes following a tap on the launcher button. Even after updating the ROM, the problems persist.

Heed my warning. Leave the ROM alone.

I have used JackFlash and JackSprat on two previous devices, and a few days ago, I used them on my new T3. I have plenty of RAM, but I couldn't resist the urge to nuke the already outdated Docs To Go files (the ROM apps were buggy the first day I used them, and Dataviz had already posted fixes - apps which had to go in RAM).

48 hours later I did suffer a fatal error which brought up a white, blank screen for which no type of reset had any effect. Eventually the battery discharged (not too much later because it is a T3 after all), and when I recharged the battery all has been fine (except for the need to restore all my data).

The error occurred during a JBBackup session, so I disabled that program, and I have had no repeat problems. I also emailed Brayder, but they have not yet responded.

In short, JF and JS have been very, very reliable for me, although I do echo the caution on this thread for using them with the T3.

Is it just memory?

Removing ROM Apps allows you (with JackFlash support) to place some other apps in ROM, freeing RAM for yet other apps. On my T3, there was multiple language support (French, Spanish, etc.) - and removing them alone yielded about 4-5 Mb of additional storage space for the above. One could also remove other ROM apps such as the welcome program, grafitti help, network support, etc. - if these features were not of use to the user.

There is also a minor side benefit of having some apps in ROM that after a hard reset, they remain (everything in RAM is lost).

Brayder knows about problems with JackFlash and the T3. Here is my correspondence with them. I still haven't heard from Development.

Edward:
I have asked our Development Team if they could be of assistance. We are
quite surprised that JF Light has done this and are investigating another
reported instance.

Please allow 2-4 days for a reply from Development.

I ran jackflash lite on my T3. Upon
reset, my palm crashed. Three hard resets, my digitizer does not
track properly on the lower portion of the screen and a couple of
programs, Noah Lite and Make Faces cause fatal exception errors
following a tap on the launcher button. I believe my ROM is corrupted.
Is there a way to restore a factory fresh ROM image on the T3? I
appreciate any help you might give. Thank you.

Edward
