I remember an old thread that had a web-site listing schematics for a C or D cell battery charger for the 3800/3900 series. Does anyone remember this?

What I'm really looking for is something solar powered since I'm in the military and never know when I'll be playing in the great big sand box in far awy lands!!! Carrying around a ton of batteries along with several pounds of military gear and medical equipment makes for a very sore back!

I use my 3955 primarily for medical reference programs. It comes in really handy out in the field instaed of carrying around another ton of books!

Thanks,

Mike :D

What i mean by this is (if your not handy) that you may want to make it your self based on the fact it doesnt exist.
1)All you need to do is buy a solor pannle (matching the
2)get a old Recharge able cable
3)there are 2 main wires in it find them (reason for enginer) lol.
4)by connecting the 2 wires to the solar panel then to a rechargable batter you can then recharge the PPC.

This devise will only work if you get a solar cell battery and the right solar panel.
Good luck. I'm not just saying ive done this to a really nice 2 way walky talky and it worked.

First off, thanks for the advice! Direction # 2 got cut off. Could you finish it for me? I'm unfamilliar with "solar batteries", can I use any old size or is there a magic one designed for me to jerry-rig up to my 3955?

As far as an engineer is concerned, I'm pretty handy. By that I mean that when I play with electricity, I only get shocked about 75% of the time! LOL!!! I did, after all, install a stereo system with two amps and a car alarm into my truck. They even worked, oddly enough! I should be O.K. as long as directions don't include:

"Step 99: Once you've connected the cable to a high voltage power source, touch the exposed ends of the positive and negative wires to your tongue to test for congruency."

Thanks again,

Mike ;)

Hopefully, you'll find what you need. I vaguely recall seeing something a long time ago about this as well...

Here are a couple of options for a store bought solar charger -

http://www.aurorasolar.com/merchant.ihtml

http://www.icpglobal.com/html/produse.asp

I haven't used these - couldn't comment on the power requirements of the iPAQ vs the output of these units.

Hope that helps.

All together find a old recharger cable and connect it to the rechargable battery(doesnt matter its just has to be a normal rechargable batter, you might have to use 4 to get the power output) then connect the batteries to a solar pannel (6 volts, or enough to get to the watts usualy needed for palm pilot.
K good luck
