Is ISDN internet connection on a S7 that much faster than a 56K using a 56k / ISDN PC modem card? Can the S7 take full advantage of the download speed of ISDN?

Can the S7 use a wireless internet modem card?

Can I hook up a gps device with S7 to be used in conjunction with a street planner program?

Thanks for your replies.

Yes, but early models somewhat limit the current available to the PC Card slot, limiting download speed, or in the worst cases simply not supporting the PC Card at all. Age can be determined by removing the right-hand RAM cover (located beneath the screen when it is part closed). If the label refers to 'release 751', then this will probably be a low-current model. 754 or 756 should be okay.

Two methods:

- install the beta-release drivers for the 7.
- upgrdade the Series 7 to a netBook by purchasing a netBook identity module and installing the latest netBook OS. This natively supports many models of wireless LAN PC Card.

Yes. I know its possible but i don't know anything about it! Maybe someone else could comment? :D

Yan

where can the beta drivers for the 7 be found. I have searched the Teklogix site and haven't found them?

Thanks

Ian

hmmm,

don't know anymore! I'll have a looksee at home and see if I've got them downloaded.

I ought to say that they are actually alpha release, not beta, and as such do not support many cards and do have many bugs - not in any way are they 'release quality'.

Same as Yan here - I have no personal experience (yet), but when I do get around to it I'm going to be turning to Kevin Millican's excellent RealMaps site for some info. I would recommend any Psion user interested in GPS to do the same.

If you make progress with this, I hope you will start up a new thread to let us know how it goes.

For GPS, it's worth a look at the Clove Technology site (http://www.clove.co.uk/accessorylist.asp); they sell various Garmin GPSrigs and the cables to connect them to the S7 or S5 through the serial port. I don't have a GPS, but I seem to remember that Routefinder Europe (which Ibought from Clove) has an option to hook into GPSdata.

Good luck!
