I am travelling around to businesses I do not know. I visit them, and then I have met someone there. Often, it is "Mike" or "Joe."

So gradually, the waypoints on my little Dora-the-Explorer are changing from the company name to the name of the person.

Is there any way to have the waypoints display company name rather than first and last name in the waypoint list and on the map?

You could put this information in the "Note" area of the address file.

All of my non-people type waypoints that I don't have phone numbers and addresses for are in a Waypoint category (I've got spots up in northern Maine, a few Lowe's and Home Depots, etc stored in there). Everyone else who has a waypoint and contact info is in their appropriate category. It's very easy to set up.

Ann, I haven't made myself clear.

When I do a FIND and bring up WAYPOINTS, rather than searching for Jim Miller, I'd like to see his company, ACME Products Corporation. Similarly, the waypoints that display on the map would be better for me if they showed the company name rather than the First and Last Name of the person who works there.

These are waypoints in my address book.

I recognize that if I pull up a Point of Interest and hit ADD WAYPOINT, it incorrectly puts the company name in the First and Last Name field. I know that I have to change that.

Any ideas on how to display company rather than fn/ln?

Last Mrk, are you suggesting leaving the company name in the wrong field and using the note to capture the first and last name? I could consider that switch, but with 900 contacts, it isn't ideal. Maybe I misunderstand though.

DMHinCO,

If you remove the first and last name from an address book entry, leaving them blank, but enter a company name, the waypoint will show up in the address book, in the Find, and on the map as the company name.

Maybe I misunderstand though. I understood you, the problem is, I use a program called Contacts 5 (http://www.pdaperformance.com) , and using that I can have company name listed instead of last name first name, I had forgotten the limitations of the standard address book. It's a great program that has just been updated, why not take a look at it and see if it suits your purposes. That way you can leave the info intact and view it the way you want to.

To add to what Eric's recommending - I put the person's name in the title - this way it still lists them with the Company but doesn't affect the waypoint.....and if your associating them with a company anyway then you'll probably search for them by company instead of by their name. :)
