T/E and Smartpad

Does anyone use a smartpad II with their te? I just got this combination (first pda) and love the te, but I can't get it to communicate with the smart pad. Everytime I try, I get a message that says ir port will not open. I've replaced batteries, looked for software and patches, etc. After 2 weeks, I am at wit's end. Can anybody help?

Did you check your prefs for an IR setting? Off the top of my head, I know there's an IR Receive setting...Only thing I can think of at the moment.

It will not work. I contacted Seiko and there is no compatibility with Tungsten E ... I know it sucks, because Comp USA were selling those 2 as a bundle.
