It's been a disappointment that the Treo 600 doesn't have wireless modem support for use with a laptop computer. All it needs is a Windows driver to communicate with comm ports of the host computer. Maybe someone will come up with one. A alternate way of communicating with a laptop would be a wireless or bluetooth card inserted in the Treo's expansion slot. What do you all think?

I doubt Sprint will ever make drivers available. Sprint seems to be discouraging the use of phones as modems. They have stopped selling cables to most of their phones. I am sure bandwidth is the concern. Maybe a good hacker can write drivers or perhaps Handspring?

If you download, PDANet for the treo 600, you can connect to the internet. You connect your treo 600 to your laptop through the hotsync cable and download the software to your laptop and install it there, then it walks you through installing it on your treo. IT works great. I just did it a couple of ours ago

That is the link above.

Thank you for the tip! I'm sure all us Treo 600 users will appreciate your info.

Thanks for your note Ron. I wanted to help where I could.

I couldn't believe that I actually got the phone to work as a modem...and just had to share it.

One question. Will the trial version of PdaNet work with the Treo 600?

I Believe it does. I tried it out first to make sure it worked before I bought it.

Dave:
What the other Treo users should know about downloading PdaNet is that they must (I'm quite sure) have access to a computer with internet access. There's a version for the Treos 180, 270, 300. The separate version is for the Treo 600 only. After you download PDANet you have to move it to the computer that is connected to the Treo 600 and install it there.

Yes, you are exactly right.
