I have a Clio 1000 and the display brightness is useless for outdoor usage (ironic for a mobile device).

I'm thinking about getting a Clio 1050 because I heard that it has a brighter display, but still washes out (as w/ other handhelds) when outdoors.

Does anyone know whether or not the display is usable outdoors? I'm not looking to use it direct noon light, but my 1000 display is barely visible in my car, or morning or afternoon light. My laptop displays well, but I'd settle for half that brightness.

Thanks.

The Clio's display to me has never been a great outdoors machine and a little too dark. Seems to take a little bit to brighten up when first turned on. My memory seems to say that this was always the complaint about the CLIO but there was so much more to it that it was usually overlooked.

There is no noticeable difference in the display brightness between the Clio 1000 and the Clio 1050. The only difference is between the 8-bit and 16-bit color. Please let me know if you are interested in selling your Clio.
