Good day,

I've just read over at another forum that PocketPCs don't support printing natively. Since both P/PCs and the NB Pro both run the Windows CE.Net 4.2 OS core, it made me wonder at whether the NB Pro supported printing natively as well.

Can anyone confirm whether they can print from their NB Pro? And if so, what drivers are available natively?

On my H/PC Pro (Jornada 820) I could (and have) print directly from the device via either IR, serial cable adapter (haven't tried this) or to a networked printer. The H/PC Pro devices natively came with both Inkjet and Laser comaptible PCL drivers (basically works with all HP printers).

Regards.

There is only one HP printer listed here.

I tried the HP LaserJet 5MP via IR and it doesn't work.

Now that's very interesting!

On the HPC Pros, there was a laser PCL driver which works with all PCL compliant laser printers (which includes ALL HP laser printers and many others besides). I've had no problems printer to HP laser printers via IR...

What dialogue boxes to you get when you try to print? Do you get a choice of printer drivers? Is "PCL Laser" an option?

It seems rather silly that the printing support in the default OS would be worse than in the older versions of the same OS!

If this indeed is the case, I wonder if we could get the NB Pro better printer support by copying over the relevant DLLs from an ARM based HPC Pro or HPC 2000?

The error I get is
"Unable to print. The printer cannot be found or is unavailable"
eventhough the LED on the printer IR window lite up for a while.
There is a dialog box in Print window to choose PCL Laser or PCL Inkjet.

check the port. make sure it is lined up. Some IR have some problems. I used it on 6P, 990cse, 450. Try again.

Thanks for the info ceya!

So can I assume that the NB Pro comes with the same default drivers as the other HPC Pro/2000 then (i.e., PCL Inkjet and Laser)?

No problem. I had the problem with hp 2200, it would not print at all. it started printing one day when i was just fooling around and has been printing ever since. I have used HP,CANON and other makes with no problem.

I AM USING WINCE HANDHELD 2000. i

I want to know if WINCE NET print color? That is something that they need to fix so we are not relying on 3rd party software.

I just got a Sigmarion III from a friend so I will see it once it is shipped to me . It uses WinCe Net .

Ha, we have the same hardware!

I can print to my HP 2210 with my H/PC Pro (Jornada 820) through the network.

I don't believe any version of Windows CE natively comes with any colour printer drivers ... though for the H/PC Pro at least, there were third party drivers released "Westtek JetCet Colour" or something like that.

Make sure your baud rate is the same as the pc. Example your PC has 115k so when you print the window will come up with Com 1- 115k,com 1 9600 , etc. choose the format that is the same. irda is for infrared and should work.
