I just bought my E on sunday, and after I got all my data from my old m130 transferred, I put my memory card in & it crashed the whole thing. I reset it, but the screen kept flashing with the Palm logo on it & nothing I tried did anything. I had to do a hard reset. It crashed as soon as I stuck the card in. All the card had on it were a few old pictures that I took with my digital camera. In my old PDA I had PhotoView which let me look at the pics on the card. They would load automatically when I'd pop the card in. This time with the E, it acted like it was loading the pictures, but the part of the pic that loaded got all scrambled & pixellated & that's when it crashed. However, after I reset it & synced it again, it worked beautifully.

I know it's not a problem with the card slot or anything, b/c I bought a new, bigger card to store mp3s on & have had no problems with it at all.

Can any of you smart people tell me what could have caused it to crash like that? Do you think I should erase the old card & try using it again? I'm almost scared to use that card again. Is there a way to reformat media cards? (I know, I'm still so clueless about all this)

Thanks

I've seen this behavior from pre-Palm OS 5 programs not enjoying their new environment. I'd suggest keeping the photos, but try removing that viewer that attempts to automatically run when the card is inserted. If that solves the problem, check the developer's site for an updated version of the app that supports OS 5.

I'm guessing the photoviewer app was probably the culprit. It got deleted & I'm using the photo viewer that came with the new one & it's working fine now.
