I am a fairly new (Late Aug. 2002) owner of a Palm IIIc and I, ironically, have a question or two about making a purchasing decision for the Peg N760c.

When I first bought the IIIc I thought all I wanted was a 8mb color pda (coming from a 2mb m100), but I was also looking at the least expensive mp3 player/pda (The N760c, cause I have a s*it load of mp3's, and I could, and still can get a refurb one)

Well!!

I've managed to do the impossible and filled up my 8mb with programs, and
I need (want :) more memory for....Games!!!!! (I know, I know, not exactly a crisis :)

I tried to see if by other means I could increase the memory of my very efficient and brilliant colored IIIc, but none are available, which gives me the excuse of going ahead and shelling out a few bucks ang getting the Sony (I like mp3'!!!!!!!)

BUT!!!!

Time for the questions!!!

1. Is the color screen, in person, at least
as, or at least almost as beautiful as the IIIc's?

2. Are the colors crisp? ate least near the III's

3. Has anyone had any superb success with Refurbished models? Like for a year or at all?

4. Finally, Is the battery replaceable? The IIIc's is, now anyway.

Any help in answering any of these questions is already greatly appreciated. Thank yo very much.

I don't own a 760 myself, I own a 610, but they're very similar.

1. & 2. The screens are incredibly beautiful, no worries there. Not only are the colors bright, but everything is super crisp because these units have high resolution capability. Many applications are starting to support high resolution mode too, so you'll be able to reap the benefits there. One of my favorite applications - SplashPhoto - just recently released an update that included high resolution. My pictures look even more impressive now! :)

3. Purchased mine brand new, so I can't comment on refurbished models.

4. The battery in the 760 is rechargable, so you're not using AAA or AA batteries as in the IIIc.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

I did own a 760C before I got my NR. I absolutely loved it! It worked great as an MP3 player(with at least a 64MB stick), the colors are great and the battery life was fairly decent. As danslaterre stated before, the battery is rechargeable, so no worries about buying new batteries! I also have not purchased a refurb model, but I would assume that if you bought from Sony, you should get some type of warranty with it??? The 760 also has a myriad of accessories. A must have is an aluminum case from DSI-USA.com. They have slim cases that work great with the 7 series Clie models.

Thanks for your replies!!!

For a second there, I thought no one was going to respond!!! What, with all the views and no replies I got discouraged!!!!

Thank you!!

I also took the liberty to check out the reviews on download.com, and www.the-gadgeteer.com.

The later swayed me with the pictures and a pretty decent review.....but mostly pictures!!!!

I guess I'll sell my IIIc on Ebay or somethin.

Thanks alot!!!!!!
