Is anyone else using the latest version of Opera for EPOC having trouble with cookies? I didn't see any issues with cookies mentioned on Diem's faq, but I seem to be having some trouble.
On Google, when I try to set my search preferences, it tells me cookies are turned off. I hoped maybe the error was incorrect, and tried to set them anyway, but the changes are not reflected on my next search. I do have cookies fully enabled.
Anyone else see these problems?
Thanks!
I have just tested setting preferences at Google using Opera for EPOC 5.14 (36) and it is working for me. Upon tapping the 'Save Preferences' button I get a Javascript Alert telling me that my preferences have been saved, followed by the 'Insecure Form' submission warning. Subsequent searches, both in the same browser session and after closing and re-opening Opera, use the saved preferences.
What settings do you have in Opera under Preferences.. Privacy.. Cookies.. ?

Well, you certainly put me on the right path. I already had it set to accept Any cookie, from All Servers. The only restriction I had was to display a warning for illegal path. I didn't figure that would be an issue.
So I could respond here that I had no restrictions, I turned off the warning and tried it again.
Lo and behold... it works! Go fig.
Thanks Diem!
curiouser and curiouser - my settings are exactly as yours were, i.e. accept all cookies from any server, with the warning for illegal path set true.
I dunno - sometimes I think computers occasionally take the mickey, just to remind us who's boss :D

Whilst we are on the subject of cookies, does anyone else have any problems with Login ID/Password auto completion?
On several sites I use, there are ID/Password logins which have the ability to be stored on your machine so that every time you revist the site your ID & Password are pre-populated. I assume this is done using cookies?
When I had Opera5.14 installed on my 7, these were saved ok and pre-populated correctly. Occasionally, Opera would refuse to populate them even if I re-entered and asked for them to be saved again. I used to resolve this occasional problem with a cache clear out and by deleting the cookies.dat file.
Since upgrading to netbook r158. I have never been able to get these id/passwords pre-populated even though cookies do seem to be working, e.g. for this site.
Does anyone have any clues as to how I can get this working again. Unfortunately I don't have my old 7 backup opera.ini file to compare settings but my current settings are as already confirmed by Yan and Jack B

For the hell of it, it might be worth changing the cookie settings and closing Opera, then changing them back again - just to ensure what's on the dialog matches what the settings actually are; there is a known bug with the Security dialog where the settings do not get saved so maybe something similar is going on?

Hi Yan,
Have tried that but has not resolved problem. Checked the settings and all but the 'Accept from Servers' are being stored correctly in the .ini file. The above is always reset to 'Any' every time you click OK and then return to the Privacy/Cookies settings
