Here you go Julie.
I have used the 33.6K modem and 56K modem with my 7book. The one that I had trouble with is the 56K+Fax 10Mb Ethernet Multi-functional PC Card. GSM & ISDN Ready. It seems that I did read somewhere that that card would not work with the Series 7 or Netbook---one or the other. Not sure where, might have been the the 7 Site. I don't know about the Ethernet side as I have not done the Ethernet thing yet. Remember---not sure why I need it. I am still think about it. Personality Module---I have put the latest 158 OS in it. Is that what you are asking????
Thanks,
Bobbyr

There is (or was) a note on the Expansys website saying that the Ethernet features of that particular card are not compatible with the netBook. Not convinced that is correct though.
Julie
is this a Psion Dacom card or a Psion CombineIT card? If Dacom there may be some truth in the incompatibility claim:
I know that (according to the ethernet PDF that comes with the latest OS) the 'ethernet only' Dacom card is not compatible with netBook/7Book. If the multi-function card you describe uses the same chipset for ethernet, then it is unlikely to be compatible.
Bobbyr, coudl you quote literally all the text written on the card? This will help identify it - Psion's card names are always very long!
Regarding OS, what I'd like to know is what was the revision of the Series 7 OS that your machine originally came with - i.e. what is written on the Series 7 personality module that you took out of the machine when you upgraded it - the key part is the 751, 754 or 756 bit - this will help us identify the age of your Series 7, which is a factor in identifying which PC Cards it will and will not support. If you don't mind doing so, could you post your machine's serial number too? Psion cannot tell us the serial number ranges for older and newer machines, so its up to this community to work it out for ourselves!

My Series 7 originally was a 751, UK. And the words in my earlier email are exactly what is on the card. The only other thing the card has on the front is a globe and the words Gold Card Netglobal. And it has two connector slots on the outside. The modem cable fits in one and not the other. I hope that his is helpful.

Netglobal is the important word here Bobby, meaning it is the original Psion cards. The Netglobal were the LAN and LAN/Modem combined cards, and the Global range were just modems. These were all replaced with the CombineIT WAN (modem) and LAN cards. The main difference is that the new cards run at 3.3V as instead of 5v of the Netglobal/Global. The 7 and nebook support both voltage although the power consumption of the older cards are larger. I am not sure why the Netglobal Lan cards don't work but can assume it is due to the larger power consumption but it could also be to do with the drivers. I would assume that the Netglobal Lan/Modem combined card is not compatible due to the large power consumption as the new card is still 330mA.
