broadband and iPAQ

I keep upsetting my broadband internet connection when I put my iPAQ into the craddle. If I put the iPAQ in the cradle before connecting to internet when I then try to connect is says:error, the port is in use. Occasionally is also jams altogether. Any ideas?

Need more information.
What is connecting to the internet: Ipaq or the computer?

I am assuming you are using USB, but confirm that please. Some people are still using serial (especially where I work).

I am using USB.
It is my PC's connection to the internet (via BT broadband) that gets upset, and the PC. I have only had my h2210 since last year Santa visit so I have not ventured yet to try to connect it to the web. What I have been through several times now is I switch the PC on, conncet it to broadband/internet with no problem and put my iPAQ into the craddle. When I later remove the iPAQ from the craddle the PC jams and eventually I get a message that Msgsrv32 is not responding. I dear not put it in the craddle again!
