Just tried out the new iPAQ 3900 at bestbuy-- I LOVE the screen and the faster processer. Also wish I had the TV remote program-- very nice. Anyone buy it yet? if so what's your rating???

I am in the enviable position of having had one bought for me by work.. I am just getting to grips with it - I used to have a Palm V - this is superb by comparison and I can't use the BT yet.

I have an Nokia 6310i and a Xircom Credit card adapter for my lap top all I have to do now is get them ALL to talk to each other and I should be a walking computer centre.

I have a 3950 -- got it from Compaq with the 20% discount. For that price it is outstanding!! The screen is wonderful, battery life while using the backlight is much improved over my 3630, and I really like being able to use all my accessories from my 3630. I don't see a real increase in speed -- but I didn't buy it for that.

All in all, as I "voted" above, it's nice -- buy one if you've got the money. I don't think that you will be disappointed.

I too find the 3950 much better than the previous models especially from a screen perspective. Very bright backlight :-) Much easier to read and the battery lasts much longer than the old 3870. However, I don't see a great difference in the processing speed. I think this is a little bit of a let down but other than that............thumbs up!!!! Well done COMPAQ!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know of a good free application site where you can download free apps ? Palm OS has many websites and apps but there are very few in the pocket PC market

Cheerio all

I ran a 3975 for two weeks and returned it.

Yes, much better than previous iPaqs, but also some serious issues.

For the price, the unit should come with integrated Wi-Fi like the comparable Toshiba does, not BlueTooth - which is harder to configure, nowhere near as common, and more expensive to enable and support (who has a BlueTooth trasmitter?)

Wonderful speaker, but where is the Compact Flash slot? To add that, you have to buy an expensive and very bulky sleeve (say goodbye to your nice investment in a leather case for the unit.)

While the basic form factor is nice, add the ugly plastic screen protection case, and it gets fat and hard to hold.

No removable battery - which is also a concern down the line, especially considering the sizable investment in this puppy.

The screen is nice and bright, but not as high a resolution as it should be, so viewing small text is difficult (web pages, presentations.)

So the 3900 series is a step in the right direction, but I'll wait until the new models come out with 340x480 screens (like the Sony Clie has), integrated Wi-Fi, and a better form factor - especially if the price remains in the $600+ range.
