It seems there is more and more selection every day for charging the iQue. They look affordable and well thought out. Is anyone still planning on building their own battery pack, and if so, why?

I'm probably going to put one together this week. I nearly gave up on my design idea after many hours/days without success. That's when I noticed the 555 timer I was using wasn't working properly. I replaced the timer and suddenly things became predictable. How annoying. I finally figured out something was wrong when I had the threshold pin held high and the output continued to ocillate.

So, my reason for continuing is, I've put so much effor into it already! There's also the possibility that my design should be more efficent given that the switching will slow down when less power is needed, rather then just changing the duty cycle.

In my case I have a 12 hour Sony battery NP-F950 with a 32.4 Wh capacity I want to use. All I need is the DC-DC converter which is on it's way;) (thanks to helpful friends)

John, did you build this? I'm not interested in building anything, but if it's a matter of just putting a few pieces together, I'd be up for that.

Can you list the parts needed? The 12-hour capacity sounds very nice.

I am in process of doing it, waiting on components to arrive to complete it. It seems fairly simple. Will share when I have it working :)
