If money were no object, what would be your best solution for achieving maximum security and/yet flexibility with a WiFi Network on which ER5 netbooks? For this scenario, assume that email is handled separately over the Intenet by each client, so the only use for ethernet is for file storage and internet and intranet access.
I am interested because I have several small clients asking about encryption over WiFi and consequently often major changes are needed to the architecture of exisitng systems in order to preserve integrity of data in databases etc.
Less and less am I finding that wired ethernet connections are wanted. Most are ware of WiFi and losing cables does appeal to them. But security is of great concern.
Also, in such a setup, what solutions do people use for printing from a Netbook? Is it at all possible over IP?
Anyone's thoughts would be welcome.
Many thanks
George

Have tried using WiFi in a "commercial" enviroment.
Used 64bit WEP and MAC address access lists and VLANs.
It would not keep an "expert" hacker out, but it would have taken about a week sitting outside the building to "sniff" enough packets to crack WEP and spoof a MAC address. Since the building is in the middle of nowhere in Wales he/she would not go un-noticed for too long.
The 7Book "slotted" in quite nicely. I could be anywhere in the building and get my e-mails etc.
But in the end had to rip WiFi out due to network latency and bandwidth. The building is a hotel and listed (reason for WiFi, having to drill through 3 foot thick walls is not a joke). The hospitality software runs with terminals dotted around building accessing a central database. We were getting too many data integrity errors due to the network "limitations".
WiFi is "great" for email, web browsing, news. Security can be "good" if the limitations of WiFi are taken into consideration and "secured" against. Anything more, my view is forget it.

P.S: I did leave one WiFi access point so I could still use my 7Book when I'm down there. Could not give up using my 7Book!
