Hello everybody !
I have just recently bought one Ique 3600 and I am trying to get new detailed maps working on it.
As I have luckily managed to install maps on my sd card. But it can not be seen in the Ique gps window anywhere.
Is there any way to get it to understand to use the map on the sd card or how does it work ??

please help...

First check that the maps are enabled. You do that from GPS - Preferences - Maps.

Do you mean in the general drop down list...
general- detailed maps. There is not any map visible to be choosen there...

If there is no map list in the Maps - Detailed maps setting (it takes a few seconds to display), then the iQue doesn't know they are there.
In Maps - Misc you may also disable detailed maps, but they still show in the list referenced above.
Something has gone wrong. Turn iQue off, remove card, turn off again and re-insert card.
If that doesn't help, try installing the maps again. You can try with only a few map tiles, so that the procedure is quick.
In the future, it's also possible to capture the map file, after creation but before being sent to the iQue. Then you can re-install it later, without having to wait for "Building index".

Also try installing a small map set to internal memory, to see if that makes any difference.

Are you shure that you have a .img map file loaded loaded? .pdb maps are for RAM use. Get fileZ from PAlm Gear to check. It's freeware. Or check card in card reader with viewing extensions enabled. For map file names in RAM and on card, see FAQ.

YES it seems to mee that I have a GMAPSUPP.PDB and GMAPBMAP.PDB and LAUNCHER.DAT in SD card PALM/Launcher/

No .Img file loaded in SD card.
Can you explain more on what .Img is??

Maps stored internally have the pdb extension. Maps stored on the card (they should be in the /GARMIN directory) have the extension img.
It's the same thing. It's just an adoption to the principle of having databases with pdb extensions in the Palm (or so I suppose).

When you install the maps, using either Mapinstall or Mapsource, you are supposed to specify where they are to go. Internal memory or card. Maybe something went wrong there, since these maps weren't created with the intended extensions?

Oki.
I pointed out to Install application that I wanted it to install .PDB on sd card and that must not be the right way then....
I wonder what makes it .Img on the files that is on sd card??
Is it perhaps when you choose maps ???
Thanks so far....

How do you create a map build then save it, before it goes to the Que, as you mentioned above?

Thanks

I have two SD cards, one with maps for Europe and one with maps for southwestern U.S. Whenever I change SD cards the maps on the most recent card are not visible until I do a soft reset.

This behavior happens consistently.

I haven't had that problem. Maybe, just maybe, because I have different selections from the same CS maps, i.e. all in Europe. I just change the card and it runs.

Yes, I must push a pin into the reset hole. The iQue does a soft reset, and then I can see my maps. By the way, there _are_ things I can see on the card without doing a soft reset. Just the maps are invisible.

It seems strange to me too.

Intercept in Palm directory as explained in FAQ. I thought I was smart and copied it back from card via reader onto PC again. 370 MB took more than 20 minutes with USB1. Not good.
