Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Synchronization to Outlook 2002
Psion/Mako friends,
I have been trying to move the Contacts from my Mako to Outlook 2002. The transfer did take place but when I open my Outlook I can't seem to find the Contact list just transfered...?? My old Outlook contact list though is there but not the one I just trasferred.
Could someone help me in this regard? - Preferable step by step set of directions....PLEASE....
I am using the Psion Software which came on the CD with the Mako.
Thank you so much.

check my FAQ for a guide - URL below.
Thank you Diem,
I have tried to follow the instructions both in your FAQ and in the referenced Psion .pdf page.
As it often is, the specifics given do not exactly match the situation I am in...
1. In the Psion page, under Software Compatibility they suggest to check the vesrion of my PsiWin 2.x
Oh well - I like these guys who think that the reader is familiar with what they WANT to say... They refer there to "Build 136" which they say is Vr. 2.3
After several iterations I found that my Build is.... 139R...(!!) now what...???? (I don't know if it matters but I have the US MAKO (16MB) DIAMOND...
2. I can't find anywhere an explanation of the process of Synchronization. What I mean is - which of the two - my MAko or the PC become "dominant" in this synchronization. In other words - which will overwrite the other ? (this is a very importnat factor in this process.
Thanks for the help.

Just to clarify, true synchronization is not a simple matter of one file overwriting the other. It should be a case of both files being read and compared, then all changes recorded and written back to each file. It is of necessity a tricky process, I think, and this is what the Outlook synch attempts to do, with varying degrees of success.
I personally find it doesn't work too well for Contacts, mainly because Outlook has so many complex fields. I do however find that my Agenda synchs pretty much perfectly with my Outlook diary, which I depend upon a great deal.
Some programs use the title of "synch", when what they actually do is overwrite one file with the other, as you supposed. I believe EpocSynch (for transferring between two Epoc machines) is a case in point.
