Well, I knew I'd be back! This time I'm trying to sync my Palm with my laptop using the IR port. I can (and do!) sync with the same laptop without any problem using the serial cable. But when I attempt to sync with the IR port an error message appears saying that a connection between my desktop and Palm cannot be established and telling me to check my setup. I think everything's in order though (??)

I've set the Local setting to 'IR to PC or Handheld' and started the sync. My laptop is registering that a device is attempting to communicate with it via IR and the Palm is beaming away but data is not being transferred, instead the error message appears.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Another annoying feature of the whole process is that even when I cancel the 'Waiting for Sender' Beam dialog box it continues to reappear. How do I stop it reappearing??

I am able to communicate with my laptop and my Palm via the laptop's IR port ... I've successfully beamed a business card from my Palm to my laptop. But I seem to have problems in the other direction (i.e. sending info from my laptop to my Palm - I get an error message to the effect that the Palm has actively blocked the data transfer)

I should mention that my laptop OS is Windows 2000 - apparently there's an incompatibility between Windows 2000 and sync'ing via IR. Does anyone know if there's a fix for this yet??

I am running the same hardware and software configuration....Windows 2000 on IBM Thinkpad T41, using a Treo 650. The IR port works and recognizes the Palm. I am able to beam files to my laptop, but unable to sync via IR.

I do know people that are able to sync their Windows Mobile devices, so I know the IR port works with some devices.

I hope their is a resolution, since I'd love to eliminate all these cables from my desk.
