Here in the UK, The Casio BE-300 is becoming increasingly hard to buy. In fact retaillers are claiming it is a discontinued item. All we can now buy is old stock.
Does anyone know:
A) If the BE-300 is a dead duck.
B) I have written lots of code for it. Do Casio do any other models that support such code? And if not, what is the next best model available? I have looked on their website. Not much information there.
Thanks.

BE-300 is actively sold by Casio in US. They might come up with a derivative for it - however, I doubt they will discontinue the production all together. Prices are around 190US$.

office max is carrying them in their stores so you might try officemax.com email them if you don't find it.
There is a board of BE nuts and as far as we know it is not a dead duck - there have been rumors but nothing has ever been announced.
The subject comes up on the board now and then and nothing has been proven valid as yet.

BE is not truely wince device - the menu hindered the underlying system, which you probably already know - there are some ce programs that run on it but few.
The guys on the boards have come up with other gui's that are awesome - if you haven't been there try it for a great resource.

BE-300 is further compact edition of already Compact Edition (CE) of Windows.
Casio has very definitely stopped production of the device.
In CE based devices E-200 is the only device in limited production.
There are no further insider news on the next model.

I appreciate your reply re: officemax.com ...
except that...
they don't deliver to the UK.
and as that's where I live, it causes a bit of a snag.
Any other suggestions... Not American.
Thanks

could always find a nice US'er to buy it for ya, and ship it to ya, unless there's import/export restrictions on it. let me know if you'd be interested in such. naturally, you'll incur the overseas shipping fees......but i'm not sure how much that would be.

First of all the BE-300 is far from dead as it is a hot seller and can be found pretty much anywhere, well in canada & US anyway. Casio claimes they have no plans to stop producing this product anytime soon, unless sales drop drastically. There are a lot of forums dedicated to the BE(www.expod.com for one) and most are growing in members fast. One reason is for the many uses that people such as Goofather, cbutters and many more have 'revamped' the look and functionality of the BE. For example divx, mpeg, wmv video files play fine, mp3, wma work for audio not to mention games these great guys have gotten to work with it. As well many CE programs have been ported over and can work with the BE, so the options are pretty much endless well as enless as $145 AM or $229 CA can bring you.
For the UK or Europe anyway try the casio europe website if not that try contacting casio directly and see about purchasing.

Hope this info helps.

so what would be a better deal........a eb300+a 32 meg CF card for $100 shipped
or
an em-500 with 2 cradles for around 132-135?
Just a matter of curiosity. Thanks!
Oh also, anyone overclocked the BE-300? Saw some sites on it. Anyone o/c'ing and using xpod?
Thx!

Em-500 is a better deal anyday.
By the way the memory cards are getting cheaper everyday.

Thanks pmshah. Someone just told me that PocketPC 2000 is disappointing or something. Or that it's not that great. Something like that. Only thing with the 500 is that it only take MMC cards, which are just a bit more expensive than CF, last time I checked, and can't do IO. But on the other hand, the 300 doesn't have microphone or IR.
So many choices:-)
