A different language

A friend of mine will give me a ipaq 3970 for 1 month.
He told me that if I want, I can buy it at a good price.
The problem is that the operating system is in french language.
How I can switch language to italian?
The pda will function correctly?

Changing the language in Settings | System | Regional Settings may give you a device you can live with. Remember, you will still need to use the French language ROM updates.
