It was a jolt when I read this, it was from a writeup detailing Panasonic's CES showing, found at www.gizmodo.com.

"The D-Snap SV-AV100 is the world's smallest MPEG2 (that's DVD quality folks) camcorder with a 2.5-inch LCD display and weighing only 5.5 ounces. (During the keynote they demonstrated a simmilar prototype that captured HDTV onto a 4GB SD card.)"

a 4GB SD card? So I guess they do exist? Wowsers. Wonder what current market price for one of those could be......

That would be enough space for maps of the whole US, and then my MP3 collection!

Probably one of those if you have to ask you can't afford it things :)

Are there disadvantages to having very large capacity cards? Would it effect the speed with which the OS handles data?

Even if one wouldn't need to ask what it costs one could still employ investors criteria of spreading risk. Since SD cards are as not as solid as they appear to be, I for one would abstain from having very large cards until I'm sure of reliability.

BTW, on CeBit Panasonic shows (off) chips with several GB under glass since several years, without giving any specifics about time to market.
