Like the hundreds, if not thousands of Treo 180/270 owners looking to upgrade, I'm about fed up with the total lack of honesty about the roll-out of the T-Mobile enabled Treo 600. A suggestion that very well may wake up the sleeping giants at T-Mobile... Write them! If you have their PERSONAL e-mail addresses, post them here, otherwise this is a mail-in shake-up that'll get their attention. My letter combined with hundreds of others WILL WORK.

Hello,

I am in the market of upgrading my old old visorphone (served me well for 3 years) to a Treo 600. I currently am w/ T-Mobile. I've been reading that you can get it 'unlocked' for usage w/ other providers. I called up their sales dept. They daid that theTreo 600 was "Optimized" for AT&T. Now I've been using GSM since 1998 . I should be able to say "Send me the unlocked" phone. I slip in my T-mobile Sim and it should work..

I found this URL :
http://www.treocentral.com/content/Stories/299-1.htm

Anyone who is a T-mobile user out there can verify this.. If so Im ready to order a phone today.

Thx

hmm..I just read about the new Treo 610 coming out but you guys say that the 600 hasn't even rolled out yet? Dang. I've read about the Troe 600 and wasn't interested. But the 610 looked great! Anyone know anything about this here in the US?

The topic of unlocking a phone is strange to me. Also makes me nervous that it may or may not work. If I were to get a phone I damn sure want to know its going to work with my service be it Sprint or T-Mobile.

Where do you live? Currently there is a CDMA version for sprint people.. so itll work.. I saw it in my local electronics store on sale for $550. The GSM version is out but only for AT&T and cingular I think.. The locking deal is basically the phones ship w/ a default to only AT&T service. U have to unlock it from AT&T and essentially you can use whatever service you want. I called handspring and they would send them out unlocked.. its an odd thing

I once in awhile hear about the 610... but i have no solid info on it.

Hey! Your in the same place I live. Im over in Glendale up on Bell Rd. Small world :)

The Treo 600 looks interesting but I'm wondering if it will suite my needs. I need to be able to bring up EBAY and search for products while on location at auctions, malls, yardsales, etc. Also don't want to wait 30 minutes for the webpage to load. I want 64k screen. Expandable slots. Keyboard. Camera is optional. Below is a list of camera's I've been looking at that should be coming to the US any day now.

XDA/T-Mobile/O2 (I don't know who makes this)
Nokia 7700
Samsung SGH-i700
Sony Ericsson P900
Handspring Treo 610
Nokia 9290
Nokia 9210

Do you or anyone have any knowledge or experience with this other phones and how they would compare to the TREO 600?

Also, I'm starting to understand that we must order the phone from the dealer/manufacturer unlocked first. Then we can use it with Sprint or T-Mobile. But, will there still be a compadibility issue with these serivces using a strange phone they don't support?

Heya,

Check your PM :)

Actually one of my jobs.. The Ceo has the sprint version. I play w/ it on Saturday just to get a feel for it. I already have the Visor Prism w/ VIsorphone (for 3 years now). Its been my life blood of contacts + Communication. Compared to what I have its just more updated. The camera on it really sucks in doors but its very good outdoor. You need ULTRA Arizona Sunny light to utilize it well. I already have a Sony 5megaPix camera and well thats my camera.

I do like it.. So i do plan on getting one. Though now the Treo 610 is making me think twice.. haha.. ASSuming its true.

As far as service compatibility. I think itll work. I called T-Mobile and they said its compatible w/ GPRS services.. and their rate plans arent bad at all. $20/unlimited .

Your PM doesn't seem to work.

I sure am interested in the phones coming out soon. Still trying to search the net looking for more information. Its the last week of January and you would think there would be some news about the 2nd quarter releases.

Where is all the posters on this forum??? It sure is dead here.
