Hi all!
I have tried to access the internet with my E-125, while it was in the cradle. I have had no success what so ever, and I need help. Could someone give me a detailed account of "how to"? I would be very grateful, and can't wait to see internet displayed from my E-125, thanks!

I don't know about the craddle - but I guess it should work too. I use a USB cable - and it works okay. You need to run MS ActiveSync (install v. 3.5 - it's better), and when you see a green circle in your taskbar, you can try and access Internet (your desktop should, of course, be connected to Internet).

The cradle is not designed to give you Internet access. It is not a communications link. For that you need a modem or a networking card. See chapter 7 of the user's manual.

No pocket PC can access the internet through the cradle unless it is running PPC 2002. The E-125 cannot be upgraded to PPC 2002. You can get software such as Wingate but I have never heard of it working.

I connect to the internet through the cradle, I use a null medem adapter to connect a US Robotics 56k External modem, It works fine.:D

I'm not quite sure of your setup but we are talking through normal setup, getting internet through the cradle via the desktop. Do you hook your modem directly to the cradle? Any modifications?

Well I have a em500 and no real modification, the serial port on the cradle is a client so I needed a null modem adapter to swap some pins and then connected a modem cable and just set up a modem connection (Hayes Compatable on com 1). I did see on the internet a web site that showed a way to adjust registry setting to allow access through a desktop with Pocket PC 2000, but I didnt have a need for that so didnt do it and dont know if actually worked and I dont remember what site it was, but maybe you could do a google search of some sort and find it.

OK, we were talking about an E-125, not an EM500. The cradle doesn't have a serial port (at least mine doesn't).

If found a manual on how to be online through the cradle in a E-125. I was able to get it to work as well. It requires getting a Registry Editor for your E-125, and a program for your computer as well. Let me see if I can find it. I know there is one, because I have done it.

Some times I wonder why people want to connect to the internet from the PPC via the cradle & the desktop PC.
You have the PC right there , why would one want to use the small screen of the PPC ?
I have used the serial cradle (from E-105) as well as external serial cable (from Casio) to connect an E-125 to the internet using a nul modem fashioned out of an old 386 serial port header ( both were 9 pin versions) & a standard D-Link 56 kbps serial modem.
Dougray is right. It works flawlessly. I use it only when I am on the road & have to access my email.

I finally got around to trying it. Yes, it works fine. I'll have to think more about what it is good for, but it's nice anyway.
Seems to me you could adapt this to go straight to the Internet via a router, without a PC in between, but how often would that be necessary? Other than that, I guess it would be handy for downloading files directly to the PPC without intervening steps, but that's not crucial either. Oh, well, it' still a nice trick.

Then I guess I should tell you why?
I use my E-125 and 12ft. sync and charge cable to reply to forums and read e-mails from bed, something I can't do with my computer.

And there are more reasons...
1).Update installed programs directly from the PPC.
2).While in a internat game, still check e-mails or other sites thru the PDA.
3).Stream audio from a server while not having to use the desktop for that purpose.
4).Keep check of a website on the PPC, and not needing to with the desktop.
Like I said before, having the internet at your side in bed is not a bad thing.....;)

To begin, I don't have any experience with the E-125, I have an E-200, fair warning: This suggestion may not work for you.
Connect the PPC to the cradle, let it sync, open MS Async 3.5 then open options, then select the "Rules" tab, all the way to the bottom "Pass Through" select the connection to be Internet. Please note that you have to be connected to the net on your PC.
If you are behind a firewall like norton, you should be prompted, MSASYNC is attempting to access the internet, allow this connection.
Hope this helped.

Strange - my copy of MS ASync 3.5 has nothing about "pass through" on that tab, or anywhere I can find.

Don't worry about a "pass through", you have OS2000, not OS2002. Just follow the guide from the link Fortimir posted.
That will get you on the internet with your E-125 or EM500, it's that simple.
