IIIc USB connection

I'm trying to connect a IIIc to a Packard Bell laptop with only USB ports. I got the Palm USB to serial adaptor. (Downloaded all the revelent s'ware.) The palm s'ware defaults to use com port 3. This is used by the internal modem. Thus unable to connect the IIIc.

Any ideas on how to get around this then??

It is very rare for the Palm software to take COM 3. It usually try its best to steal COM 1. :confused:

If you click on the HotSync icon in the taskbar, is "Local Serial" checked? Is the correct COM port (the one installed by the USB adapter) in HotSync Setup?

What OS is the PC running?
