Hello to all. I have a question. I upgraded to a T2, and find that my area of Florida does not support bluetooth. I am trying softick PPP, and it works fine with the wep pro on the T2. My question is before I buy, does anyone have comments pro or con on the softick, or is there something better. Thanks Guitar Picker.

Bluetooth IS used to communicate to a mobile phone, laptop, etc. Bluetooth is primarily for devices you carry on your person. So "area of Florida" does not make any sense when talking about bluetooth.
If you are saying you cannot locate a bluetooth dongle for your PC, then you can by one from many online sources (one place is http://www.outpost.com - but I've seen better prices else where). This would allow you to roam your "house" while wirelessly browsing the internet. Assuming you properly setup internet sharing for use with the BT dongle.
Or it may be you meant to say you cannot buy a bluetooth phone for use in your area of Florida. If this is the case, you should be able to buy one on the internet for use in Florida. For me I just purchased a Sony/Ericson T610 (T-Mobile), which is sweet.

Thanks for the reply. The problem was I could not buy a bluetooth phone. I tried my service(Alltel) and they told me it was not available. Tried several others, same responce. We are just past the two cans and a string in this area. Thanks again, Guitar Picker.

Sorry I have no input for your question about softick PPP.

No cable to phone, my contract is about up and I was looking to upgrade to a cell with bluetooth. I just got the T2 and was going to set up the desktop and palm via the bluetooth, and thought a phone would be nice also. I guess I like gadgets. Thanks again.

2 years ago I had a Nokia 8360 phone and the M505. I thought I'd be able to send a fax through my cell. HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!
Are you (wonderful) people telling me now I have the T3 with Bluetooth, if I get an infra red equipped phone with Bluetooth, I will at last be able to FAX (that's right, a fax . . . I remember when you had to wait for the "9" to come back all the way around when dialing a phone. . . . !!) . . . a FAX to someone's fax machine with the text written on my Palm? Could it be???
If so I'm there with a Sony/Ericson or similar TOMORROW.
Finally. God. Now I'm just going to sit here being happy . . . .
I LIKE GADGETS TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've faxed with my land line IR modem (from PDA), but have not tried with my mobile phone.
HMMMMM.....
No Fax - using IR and Sony T610 does not appear to work. :(
----
But IR works to connect to internet! No GPRS service required with T-mobile (but GPRS should be faster than modem in phone). Just counts against minutes. One just calls their ISP and connects normally (setup in network/connection preferences).
Minor annoyance is T610 makes dink-dink noise during xfers - don't know why.
I tested right now by running Avantgo sync, which was successful.
FWIW - This is a new plan got phone this week! Free T610 phone (after rebate) if you buy (internet) and activate soon (ends 1/31?). Amazon now gives one $70 USD if they buy phone, but too late (read rebate fine print) as 4-6 week delivery will invalidate T-mobile rebate ($100).
They appear to sell in Florida, check T-mobile web site to be certain. Got phones from http://www.tm.intelenetwireless.com/ , but I did want two. There are other sites selling just one(or two) for $50 back (after rebates), but they only had more expensive family plan. Also note that mobile phone dealers appear to be most sleazy on internet (think "Used car salesman") - so check on http://search.bbb.org before closing the deal.
DISCLAIMER: T-Mobile works great for me, but may not for you. Depends on where their towers are. If you have local store that is T-mobile (not dealer), then ask them to show you how good coverage is for your addresses you'll use phone. Also read all fine print, some internet purchases include draconian cancelation fees ($350 plus the $200 T-mobile charges) if canceled after the short 14 day trial (starts when phone activated before shipping). BE CAREFUL!
FYI - I don't have BT PDA yet to try BT Data communications to my phone
