Hi All,

When I was using Windows 95 and NT4, I could right-click on a file in the File Manager/Windows Explorer and see my Psion's C:\ and D:\ drives under the SendTo submenu. These are shortcuts to My Psion and have a little icon symbolising an external drive.

In my XP Pro, this icon is not there. Instead the 'unallocated' type of icon is used - the default Windows icon for unknown files/folders. The funny thing is that both C:\ and D:\ drives have the correct icon in the My Psion, in Windows Explorer.

Would anyone know how I could assign the correct icon to these shortcuts in the SendTo folder (under Documents &
Settings/User). If I right click on them Explorer crashes. Similarly, Explorer crashes if I select any of them and then click on the Menu/File, etc.

Thanks In Advance,

Mick

I do have the correct icons in the "SendTo" menu but, like you, if I right click on the shortcut in the SendTo folder, Explorer crashes - actually, it hangs and I have to use Ctrl-Alt-Del which then crashes it. This is with XP Home. The SendTo menu command does actually work though in that a file is transferred to the Psion with the option to convert it.

Thanks Mike, I have actually reinstalled PsiWin over the years, but as far as I can remember these particular icons were never shown in that location (in the SendTo). :(

I'll have a look at the registry to see what's there . . .

I don't know, guys. This is a strange one. The correct icons show in both Windows Explorer and My Psion for me. If you go to Run, and then type "sendto", you'll see the folder that contains all the items that show up when you choose Send To. Both my Psion drives show up as shortcuts with the correct icons but right clicking to get to the properties also makes Explorer hang. It might work to have My Psion and the Send To folders both open and them drag the shortcut from My Psion to the Send To folder and see if that works. Since both drive icons are just shortcuts, they're coming from somewhere but I can figure out any place in the registry that they live.

Thanks for your comments guys,

I found a workaround to this problem! I discovered that they do not mind being selected and then moved (but not deleted) to another folder. I used the Edit menu to do this.

As you say they're only a shortcut, so I created two new shortcuts using My Psion C: & D: drives, with their icons and all. Then I tried them out to see that they work allright and finally moved the old shortcuts to the Recycle Bin. Emptying it thereafter caused no problem.

Happy again! :D
