I just upgraded from a Palm IIIxe to 3975- and I really just don't know how to use it. I don't understand the capabilites of Bluetoothe. I am wanting to connect to the internet-- but am not sure how to do that. Can anyone un-confuse me? Oh- and I also can;t get my SmartPad to work? Any tips??
Thanks!!

I have a 3975 and a bluetooth phone Ericsson T39m. There are quite a few steps to connecting these devices. The first is of course to set up a pairing between the phone (or Other device) to the iPaq. Ensure that btooth is active on both devices. Set the phone to discover mode. Go to the btooth manager (the little blue icon in the bottom rh of the screen. Turn radio on. tap again and select the btooth manager. Tap search and with the magic of btooth they should find each other. the device should show in the list when it finishes. if you get here part one success !!
The rest are mainly settings on the Ipaq.
go Start>Settings>tab Connections. tap connections
tab Dialing locations make a new one
Now depending where you are the local settings need to be changed eg in Aust/Bris
Local Settings are : Area code 7 Country code 61
click on the dialling patterns and here is the magic
Local Calls g
Long distance 0fg
International Calls 0011efg
the first combo drop down and choose the device
Tap modify
tap the device
enter a new name(if you want)
Select as modem ( and it should be "bluetooth dialup modem"
tap next
and enter the country code, area code, and ISP phone number
tap next
tap finish
The proxy setting you'll need to set for your ISP. Ihope this at least get you on the way
BTW Surfing the net is a VERY EXPENSIVE option but get email and logging off > making the replies / Logging on and sending it not too bad as long as you keep the the attaqchments to NIL.
Hope this helps
