help with versamail

Hello, I am having a problem with using versamail...it seems I can never connect via pop server...I have tried several different mail address, yahoo, apple.mac...but it never is able to establish a connection...although the web program works great when I am in a hotzone...I was wondering if anyone could offer some ideas as to what I might be doing wrong...I have tried many different emails....but....
