Anyone who has a Treo 600 through sprint figured out what program works best for sending/receiving email on the device. I was told by Sprint to try Eudora which is fine for INCOMING EMAIL but will not work for OUTGOING EMAIL. I've tried my normal email settings as they work on my Mac, but they don't work on the treo. Has anyone had a similar problem and found answers yet?

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Tad

found Snapper mail and it has keys to many commonly used email ISPs and their setting for email on Palm devices (which happened to be quite different that what I've always used for Desktop computer email software)

Hope this helps any other newbies that find their way to this site.

Depending on if you are supporting this corporately or personally
I would suggest contacting Jim at Path Finder CG at

Is there a free email program out there that works well.

I have outlook on mine, it syncs my email, my tasks, and my notes but not my journal.

i honestly do not have any idea how you do that, and i also thin you should reconsider keeping that phone because my sister got one, and it caused nothing but trouble

OK.. If you are with sprint.... there is a new BETA application called "MAILER" from palmone.... it is the TREO 600 mail app... Snapper mail is also EXTREMELY COOL....However with the new FREE MAILER program....you had to play around a lil bit to figure out just how to set it up.....it comes pre-configured for http and pop3 email accounts from some major isp's (very stupid) and there is NO option to add your own....(very stupid AGAIN)....HOWEVER... you can reconfigure the settings of the preinstalled accounts as well as rename them....soooooo....basically all I did was rename the yahoo mail account to something like "MY POP3 ISP MAIL" and the change the incoming and outgoing mail servers to match that of my ISP...also I left the option to leave a copy of all emails on the server so when I get home I can just open Outlook and get all the same emails on my desktop...without sync'in.... Those who are with sprint can use the sprint mail site on the treo600 to get their @sprintpcs mail.... I just use this for my NORMAL DESKTOP POP3 Mail....

Here is a link for both the application and instructions...(hope this isnt breaking any rules....SORRY if it is!!)

I have tried several programs and finally settled on Mark/Space mail. This is the best POP3 email program I have found. What makes it different from the others is the ability to DELETE emails from the POP3 server by selection. It makes it more like a true synchronization than any other POP3 email programs I have seen. It costs 29.99 and can't be beat.

Can the Mark/Space program see subfolders that you have set up other than the standard Inbox, Deleted, Sent etc folders?

PalmOne, for Sprint only, is running a beta program for Pop3 email.

I have yet to get it totally configured because of time constraints but you can find it here (http://www.palmone.com/us/support/downloads/treo/pop3_mail.html)

You can give it a try. :)

I believe it can see the top level folders but if you nest folders in folders. A cool feature is that you can create filters and automatically file mail into folders you create on the Treo. Try it out. It is much deeper than it first appears and I think it's worth the 30 bucks. I haven't seen one better yet.

Hi,
Eudora should work fine for both incoming and outgoing email on Sprint (at least it does on my Visor/Digital Link combination).

The incoming pop server is pop.sprintpcs.com and the outgoing server is smtp.sprintpcs.com

this works great for me. I'm able to send/receive email, delete email on the server, and it is free ;->

good luck!

I have tried Eudora and I was very suprised because they have long history of very good products. It seems very cheesy and feature lacking compared to Mark/Space mail.

Free is always good but sometimes it doesn't cut it.
