Hi,

Has anyone used the Armor 3600 weather protection together with the Ique?

http://www.armorbyotter.com/product.cfm?product=103&code=NA

Is it possible to use the built in antenna with this protection?

The chart on their website

http://www.armorbyotter.com/pdf/armorchart.pdf

says that the Armor 3600 with the additional deepbox kit will take the iQue. Another solution is using the smaller Armor 2600 with external antenna if you don't go deep sea diving with it. There was a thread in this forum about it, last week I believe.

Otter discourages the standard 3600 and 2600 for use with the iQue, although I can confirm that it fits. Since Otter says the 3600 deep box is *required* for the iQue, I conclude that it fits with the internal antenna. I did some research on the web and found reports from others that the reception is not affected by the Armor.

Happy Queing,
H5

Edit: to be absolutely clear: the normal 3600 and 2600 only fit when using an external antenna so you can keep the internal antenna inside the iQue.

I'm happy with mine.
I have more detaile reviews here:
Oh what a case (http://www.pdastreet.com/forums//showthread.php?s=&threadid=24198) and
Otter Heavy Armor 3600 (http://www.pdastreet.com/forums//showthread.php?s=&threadid=26700)

NOTE: I use the standard 3600 case, fit is perfect even with antenna extended.

That means the PDF my previous post is not correct if it comes to the normal 3600. Good to know in case my own 2600 project fails :)

I have the 3600 and I usually use it with the antenna extended. It fits fine.

Its a great rugged case for tough environments.

Okay, this will probably sound like a redundant question, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer. Will an ique with extended internal antenna fit in the 3600, without the deep extension?

The iQue fits the 3600 Heavy Armor Case with the internal antenna fully extended, without the deep box extension. I use the Ique with the antenna extended nearly all the time. The case does not seem to effect satellite reception either.

I don't know why they report the deep box extention is required, they report the Internal demensions as: inches L 6.750 - W 3.600 - D 1.125:D. more than enough room for the iQue (with their energy absorbing foam padding).
Maybe they need to unload some of those deep boxes.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your answer "Octoberfest".

I do have the size for the unit but how wide is at the widest spot and reverse how narrow is it.

Just trying to get a feel how it will fit on my motorcycle.

The Otterbox Web Site (http://www.armorbyotter.com/product.cfm?product=103&code=NA) reports the External Demensions as: inches L 8.500 - W 3.600 - D 2.400

This case is by no means small. When I first reviewed it I compared it to a brick! It may actualy not be as heavy as a brick but it has similiar heft and balance. I'm a BIG man but this case is too big for my pockets.
I used to ride. I think its too big to mount on the handle bars, but would fit nicely on most tanks.

Looks like one is for sale on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3075334480&category=48673&sspagename=STRK%3AMEAWA%3AIT&rd=1) .
Not mine, I've got the all Grey model.

I just checked to see if the iQue fits with the Palm Power to Go external battery attached (loosely attached). Yes, it does!
It is a extremely tight fit with the antenna extended, the Armor bottom retainer had to be slide out to give the PowerToGo battery clearance, then slide back in to restore integrity to the case and knid of locks in the iQue. Replacing the back panel with the supplied foam insert required a little extra compression, but it makes for a really snug fit! Might be to heavy to float if the case gets away from you, maybe thats where the deep box kit helps out. All the front buttons are available on the iQue, but the power button was out of reach a couple of times I put the iQue (with Power-To-Go Battery attached) into the case. The iQue can turn on using anyone of the front 'function buttons, I can turn the iQue off using a virtual button on X-Launcher.

Another question for the Armor 3600 owners. Do I need to purchase the wire kit if I want to use a car charger? The charger I have has a universal connector on it, will it even fit in the box with the iQue and antenna fully extended? I don't mind if it sticks out of the bottom of the case and is not completely waterproof, I'm getting it more for the crush proof qualities. Can I just remove the bottom and have the UC connector and wire sticking out?

Thanks
