I thought I would see what GPS Pilot TripPilot is all about. It turns out they have an entirely different approach to routing and trip planning. Instead of having the maps in the PDA, you set you departure and destination positions, and then it downloads the necessary information from the internet.

So it does take an internet connection. On the road, that has to be done via phone (like GPRS). I haven't played with that, since the interface with the phone via IR isn't the most comfortable anyway.

Still, with the iQue in the cradle, this ought to be possible, isn't it?
With my setup at home, I have an ADSL routing gateway, including NAT and DHCP, which logs on to the internet. The internet access is then distributed over the Ethernet network. Since the router logs on, no entry of user ID and passworks has to be done at each client. That's done automatically by the router (which has this info in its flash memory, of course).

Anyone have any idea if, and if so how, I could set up the iQue to access the internet in such a configuration?
Otherwise, I'll simply have to start experimenting. But experience says that knowing saves time before experimenting...

How about softick PPP ? I havent tested it with Trip Pilot but it seems to work ok with other TCP/IP applications on the iQUe.

Yes, I considered that myself, too. I just wanted to check if someone else had a definite answer first. You know, using the combined intelligence of this forum! :)

Anders,

Softick was up months ago in this forum and seems to work.

Yes, I remember that too, but something else could have shown up since then, right?
