Infrared Modem

I have been trying to get a Diamond Mako (Psion) infrared modem to work with my new Tungsten C. Whenever I try to connect to the modem I am getting a "Modem command error" from the TC.

I know the modem is ok because I can use it with my Handspring Treo 90 (with the same modem settings). It has also worked ok with other Palms and Psion devices.

To rule out the modem as the culprit I also tried another identical one and the TC gives me the same error.

Is there something inherently different about the TC infrared that would cause problems with the modem? Could this be a problem with Palm OS 5?

I have contacted Palm support and they suggested modem settings, turning off wifi, and this did not help. They also suggested a hard reset which did not help.

I posted a similar question on the Psion board and got some help there but was unable to get it to work.

Has anyone out there used the TC with an infrared modem? I'm beginning to wonder if maybe my TC has a problem with its infrared (although all other infrared functions seem to work fine).

What I really need is to try the modem with another TC.

I'm not a TC user myself, but a T3 user - and my IR modem works fine with my T3 - suggesting that OS5 isn't a problem.

Have a look for my thread on the tungsten forum, which gave the modem settings, which might be helpful.
