I am using a remote desktop connection to connect to the server, and the palm software is on the server. I am unable to open up my Palm Desktop during about 4 out of every 5 attempts, getting the message "Error: invalid configuration. Terminating Palm Desktop." I am able to open the software at colleagues' computers with no problem. Any ideas?

Can you tell me a little more about the process on your computer to connect your Palm to the software on the server?

This is what our tech consultant says in response to your question:
"You are in a Terminal Services environment and you are connecting via IP to the terminal server. The workstation (Terminal Services Client) is running DHCP. You are connecting to the Terminal Server via the LAN and do not have port mapping enabled."
Does that help?

I emailed your problem two days ago to an IT friend with lots of experiences networking with Palms. Just our luck she is out of town.
I'll keep watching for her reply but hope you get it working sooner.

I wonder how long my problem list can go on...
Whenever I AM able to open the desktop software, I now get a message saying that Palm cannot open the port. I am trying to get help figuring out if something has suddenly taken over the port. However, the error message I get also says that Palm will notify me when the port becomes available, but the hotsync manager icon does appear on the bottom right of my screen. I continue with my hotsync attempt -- everything looks okay, the log says that the hotsync has occurred, but information is NOT being hotsynced. It says it is, but it's not.

This may be helpful if there is a Com Port issue.
