Hi

Can anyone please help.

My son's Series 5 has developed a most peculiar problem - the right-hand quarter of the screen displays a mirror image of the left-hand side of the screen, instead of what should be there.

Programmes seem to open and function OK, and otherwise things seem Ok

We have tried the obvious things (screen re-calibration (tricky with the third point being a mirror image of point 2!) and a couple of soft resets, but it hasn't made any difference)

The machine hasn't been misused and is always kept securely in a plamtec/proporta rigid case.

The only other thing I can think of is a hard reset unless someone can come up with any other suggestions

Thanks in anticipation

Graham Payne

You can try a hard rest but the problem is most likely that the screen cable has begun to fail and will soon fail completely so you'll only have alternating gray and black lines on the screen.

The cable can be repaired - you can do a search here on cable repair for sveral vendors that will do this. The question is whether you want to repair a Series 5 as compared to buying a used Series 5mx. The repair cost won't be much less than buying a used 5mx and you'll gain a lot of functionality that's missing the Series 5.
