Hi, i got a iPAQ 3850 with wireless adapter.
I want to surf on Internet but when my iPac is not synchronized with my PC it is impossible to surf on internet.

When my pocket Pc is not sync, the signal is sent and recevied from my wireless WLAN gateway but im unable to ping any address

Im only able to surf on Internet when my pocket PC is Sync....
How to connect without being sync?

Are you linking wirelessly to a base station (router) or to your PC in Ad-hoc mode?

Sounds like the PC is supplying the internet access and you aren't really linking via a wireless base station.

Needed info:

1) Describe the actual connection to the internet?
ie. dialup modem, ethernet, wireless via cablemodem/router
2) Do you have a separate wireless base station?
3) Are you linking to the PC in Ad-hoc mode, bluetooth or cradle?
4) How is the PC connected to the internet?

Let us know and someone here will help...

Mike

I re-read your post and discovered you already answered some of the questions I asked...

It does sound like you are not making a good connection to the base station. The PDA should be able to link to the base unit without the PC even being on.

If you have the latest software, then call support for the wireless card provider.

I didint config my connections with ad Hoc

I'll resume de problem with more details

Ive configured my iPAQ to use Work settings to acces to Internet, setted the address of the Intel wireless gateway, ip, name...

When iPAQ is SYNC :
I can ping any adresses
I can surf on Internet
I receive signal for the Gateway 100%

=========================
When iPAQ is not SYNC :
Cant ping
cant surf
BUT STILL receiving signal from the gateway, perfect signal 100%
======================

Ive config my Wireless gateway to GRANT the MAC address of my iPAQ and then allow him to access WLAN (wireless local area network)

Till now its ridiculus to surf on the internet with my iPAQ sync with a PC when the screen of iPAQ is 300x200 :(

thank you

I give the same suggestion for everyone that has trouble connecting to their wireless router/hub.

Remove all disable/remove all security features on the hub/router (temporarly for testing purposes)

Check to see if all your problems went away.

If yes,

Re-add each security setting one by one. Testing the connection after each setting.
