Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : What is the best Address Book Replacement Program?
Hi everyone.
I am thinking of trying one of the address book program's out there, and wanted to hear everyone's thoughts.
I am on an M515 running Silver Screen, and I use Datebk5, and want to be sure that whatever I use is compatible with these....
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Josh

It really depends on what you want and need. If you sync with Outlook and you want more of the fields that are in Outlook on your palm then the only way to go is KeyContacts from chapura.com. If you want a bigger font with the ability to search on first name or company name TealPhone is nice. It really comes down to what suits your style and needs.

Josh,
I use & love Popup Names. It can be called up in any program and then put you back in the program you were in. It is made and can be obtained from Benc Software, I will put the link below. It also lets you do form letters to the Memo program and lots of other features. You will need Xmaster or Hackmaster to run it.
Hope that this helps & have a nice day,
Calvados

Many thanks to you both for your replies. As I do not use Outlook, I will check out both TealPhone and Popup names asap to see which works better for me.
(Not having ventured into the world of hack programs, I might perhaps rule out Popup Names for this reason)
As far as you know, do both of these programs "play nice" with Datebk5?
Thanks again,
Josh
Hi, me again.
Was just reading some user opinions for TealPhone on Handango, and one of the users said that there were problems with this program and Silver Screen.
Do you know about this?
Thanks,
Josh

Josh,
I use MegaLauncher with TealPhone. No conflicts.

Hi everyone,
Not to beat a dead horse, but I am wondering: is it possible to use KeyContacts and have it not synch to Outlook but to the Palm Desktop?
I gather this would imply that certain fields would not be visible on the desktop program (as they would in Outlook), but I think I would be willing to sacrifice this if it means I could have all the fields available to me on the handheld.
The reason for all of this has to do with the fact that with "big brother" watching, I would prefer to store all of my contact information at work on the hard drive of my PC, rather than the shared network drive where Outlook would be.
Thanks,
Josh

Josh,
I can see the attempt to sync KeyConytacts with the Palm Desktop resulting in frustration. But I will say that in the past Chapura.co, the developer of Pocket Mirror and KeyContacts, has been very good about offering continued access to the Palm Desktop. Why not send an email to Chapura's tech support. They have a great team.

Great idea DrMud -- I have just dropped them an email asking about this.
Will let everyone know when I hear back.

Dear All,
FYI, Chapura tells me that there is no way to synch to the Palm Desktop....

THanks for the update.
I didn't see the possibility of it working but thought "who am I to limit Chapura?"
I Love KeyContacts and only wish it had come along sooner. About one year ago I lost a lot of data in Outlook. I was using POcketMirror and I was able to put all the data from the PAlm back into Outlook but there had been a lot of other information in Outlook that was lost. My bad habit of not backing up the PC as often as I should always gets me.

For my address book, I just use the standard palm desktop, but with a little program called NoTap. It lets you find an address without having to pull out the stylus. very easy to use, and great when you need to find an phone number quickly.
Thanks little-man -- do you by any chance know where I can find this program?
