Does anyone know a solution to the following iQue “feature”?

With password enable under the security settings the iQue will not remain on in the cradle even if the “stay on in cradle” setting is ticked.

I sent Garmin an email asking if this was going to be corrected in r3.

The reply from Garmin Asia support is difficult to interpret, but basically it sounds like they have deliberately done this.

The problem with this feature is that if you want some level of security, say a password required once at the start of each day, you can not have the iQue remain on when in the cradle when you may want it available for viewing while you are at your desk.
It seems a bit odd that you need to disable security settings just to keep it on when in the cradle.

Below is the reply from Garmin (I’m still not sure exactly what they mean)

My original question:
Hello, I have recently reported a problem with an iQue 3600 believing it to be a hardware issue, I have just discovered it seems to be a software bug. When the password security function is activated the unit will not stay on when in its cradle, despite being set in the preferences. Will the upcoming r3 upgrade solve this issue?
Best Regards.

Garmin response:
Thanks for contacting GARMIN.
Herewith the reply from RD dept. for your reference:
It is designed since the setting intended to "Security" even on the cradle. The "Security" is triggered by power off.
Best regards,
Garmin Asia Corp.

If it won't stay on in the cradle even if the “stay on in cradle” setting is ticked, it is clearly a bug!

Garmin are talking nonsense if they expect us to beleive that the password protection is intended to override the user settings. If the user wants to lock the iQue in the cradle they would turn it off with the power button. What ever happened to common sense.

Maybe Anders can raise this with Garmin?
