For some reason, the calculator button is not responding. I've tried assigning other apps to this button, but it still won't respond.

Any suggestions?

The physical buttons can break; the underlying pieces are plastic. BUt to have a dead spot in the grafitti area is a new one on me.
Are you under warranty?
If not you may want to email gethightech.com and see if they are able to work on this problem.

Have you used that button a lot? I think it's rare to wear out a digitizer.

Maybe there is junk stuck between the screen and the frame.

Thanks for your replies. I don't use this button very much at all. I still have a few months left under warranty, so I will try Palm. Hopefully I don't get a reconditioned unit back that has had more problems than mine. This 505 has been great for 10 months (SUDS excepted!)

I had what Palm determined to be a battey issue on my first 505 and I was not happy when my four month old Palm was replaced by a refurb. But! The refurb has been great. I used it for about 10 months and the wife has had it for about four months. All trouble free.

Verrry interesting! I have installed a demo of PopUp Names and set the start-up to a single pen tap on the...you guessed it - the calculator button. It worked! The calculator graffitti area obviously responds to the touch. I don't know why the actual calculator program won't launch. Hmmm.

I may be way off base, but don't take it personal. Did the caculator program get removed by mistake or perhaps corupt?

Are you implying that I'm stupid??? Well....you're right! I didn't get a chance to post this before your suggestion - I'm using powerOne which I DID move to my card 'cuz I thought I was being smart in saving space on my Palm. When I moved it back, it worked again. I suggest this forum introduce a 'red faced smily' - I could have used it!!

Thanks for everyone's help. Duh.

Well I think McPhenius and Johnny_Quest are great teachers. I know that I learned a lot.
Thanks for the class in paying attention.
