I jsut bought the Tungsten T3 and so far have been impressed. But, I want to deactivate the Voice Recorder Button as it always comes on when in my backpack. Is there a way to deactivate it and how? Please help.

You can deactivate all buttons on the Palm by activating Keylock in the Preferences.

Cheers!

I don't want to deactivate all of the buttons, just that particular one. Only the Voice Recorder button on the left side of the unit.

Is it possible to deactivate the voice button on the Tungsten T? I can't find a Keylock on my Preferences.

Thanks.

Keylock started with T3 I believe.... did you try remapping the button in preferences to something you may want to use more frequently- e.g., Calculator or whatever? Good luck.

I remapped it to the RealPlayer, which is real handy when i am using it as an MP3 player, but no, there isn't any way to deactivate it. I know your frustration, everytime i pick up my palm it turns on. the good thing about the realplayer is that it will shut off after 30secs.

Yes and no.

Go to www.whizoo.com. You will see a few nifty little utlities for Palm. One is called "Power". I bought it last night....$8 to download. Power allows you to individualy deactivate any, or all, of the external buttons, including Voice Recorder.

The down side of this for me is; the deactivation only works when the unit is off. It seems that I am constantly grabbing my T3 (when it's on and in use) and inadvertantly turning on VR. I wish I could set it up so that only a double press would activate.

But....Hey, 8 bucks, you can't go wrong.

Surprised this app doesn't work as planned.

Thanks to all that have replied. I am going to try that pipece of software as well as the keylock and go from there. Appreciate all of your help on this one. I am sure I will have more questions as time goes on.
