I tried to use nConvert to read html files on my P5. no results. I felt dissappointed... :( are there any other applications (possibly freeware) that allows it? otherwise, possible solutions?
thanks

You should be able to use the message suite and 'Web' application to open any html file natively on your P5, though you will have to open the file from within the Web application itself.

If you don't have the updated message suite you can get it from Psion's site.

I saw that last week "Calbrit" exposed the same problem in netBook forum. html convertion seems dead while anything else works fine. And the same file opens normally on my nB with Opera....

He has problems on a nB, I on a P5.

I don't want to dissappoint you, nitrile, but unfortunately my P5 hasn't enough free memory to install the message suite or Opera. That's why I hoped using nConvert would solve all my problems.
Now I am waiting for eventual explanation from Neuon directly. Maybe the know the real reasons... will they answer..??????

Hi walter,

Sounds as if your 5 is packed with data. :D

May be worth your while getting hold of a CF Card and shift all your personal data onto this. You can even move any applications you have installed on your 5 (including web !!). In addition to freeing up valuable space on your c: drive, it also acts as an additional level of protection for your data. If both your main and back up batteries were to fail without your knowledge, anything on the CF card would be protected, whereas your C: drive would be wiped. When I ran a 5 (and then a 5mx & 7), I kept all my personal data and apps on my CF card which left my c: drive fairly empty, providing enough space to run multiple applications quite happily (including web). If you only have a 4mb 5 series, then this is particularly beneficial.

You can pick up a 16mb card for £17.63, 32mb card for £28.64 or a 64mb card for £23.50 (yes £5 cheaper than the 32mb card) all from Expansys. If you are not in the UK I am sure you can get hold of these at similar if not cheaper prices. Link is attached here.

I hope Neuon come back with a satisfactory reply but in the meantime, maybe a CF card could provide an alternative solution.

Kind Regards

I already use a CF card to memorise my files. It seems I exaggerated with the installation of sw on my P5... I should make a screening and eliminate some of them... and them what do you counsel me between message suite & opera? which one works better on P5? I remaind you that I need the sw just to read the html files, non to surf on the web.
thanks

On the P5 You will need need to install Message Suite 1.52 to get online. Opera will only work once you have message suite installed too although you may be able to remove web2.0 to replace it with Opera. Please note that Opera needs java runtime to have a pretty good web access possibilities. Unfortunately this is currently only available for the ER5 OS.

Best thing is to try message suite first (email & web) and see how you get on. Find out what you want it to for you. You could always install opera at a later date (space permitting), but you will not get the functionality you do on a 5mx, revo, 7 or netbook as these all use the ER5 platform as apposed to the ER3.

Before installing Opera, make sure you have cleared out all personal (anything not in c:\system folder) data onto your CF and also install opera and message suite on your CF Card. This will hopefully leave enough space to run email/opera properly.

I would say you need at least 5mb free on your c: drive before trying Opera.

Let us know how you get on.

If you say I'll need about 5 mb free to install opera (plus for the running of the sw) I'll have to give it up. I have not such space on c disk. I'll try with msg.
Thanks anyway
