After recently upgrading to 7book without problems i have now go one further and incresed the memory to 32mb.
This is where the problem starts. In my haste to load the new memory i removed all the batteries, installed the chip and refitted the batteries only to remember that i had erased the o/s from the c/f card a couple of weeks earlier to make space. Now i have a dead 7book with no way to load the o/s back onto the c/f card.
Any ideas ????

Simplest way would be to copy the OS from PC to CF with a card reader/writer - they're fairly inexpensive these days and a very useful device for any Psion owner to have.
Failing that, if it's any help I'd be happy to copy the OS on to CF for you if you would care to send it - I would sent it back by return post.

I took your advice about CF card readers and bought one on e-bay transferred the OS to the card but no result.
In the read-me file that downloads off the psion site it says that the os.img file must be renamed using the psion.
Do you think this is right??
I may have to revert to the other plan yet.

Note that OS.IMG must be located in the root of the CF for it to be detected. Ideally it would be a blank CF, to avoid the possibility of it being fragmented amongst other files already present on the disk. If this presents a problem, I could lend you a CF which contains only the OS, and proven to work! Let me know.

The root is the first level of the file structure of any disk or drive, before any other folders are created.
The OS.IMG file must be at that level, and not residing within any folder which you may have created.
I'm still not clear whether you are using a blank CF, or one which already contains files.

Originally when i first installed the new OS via CF the card had other information on it and everything worked fine.
I now have a card with nothing on it but the OS.IMG file and still no joy.
I have tried formatting the disk through windows but am unable to do so.
Got any more ideas??
Houndoghopefull..
Can I assume that you have the OS on a CF in the D drawer and that on bootup, the display asks you to insert a card into d with the OS on it?
Also, I belive there is an issue that the 7Book does not like 48Mb of memory. Can you confirm that you haven't got this odd combination?

I can confirm that i have a total of 64mb memory across both chips and that the CF disk is in the D slot.
The machine still asks me to load a bootable CF disk or start the ROMINST.

If you've copied across the OS and renamed it OS.IMG correctly then it HAS to be the CF card.
