Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem... I have spent hours on it and am getting nowhere..... When i go to play a MP3 file on my iPAQ 3970, i get the following error:-
"Windows Media Player cannot find the file. You may not be connected to the network, or the file may have moved, or you may have entered an incorrect filename or path".....
I have tried transfering mp3's directly to the SD card with the use of a USB adaptor, and i have tried going through Active Sync and Media player. I have tried serveral MP3's and i cant get it to work..
Am i doing anything wrong...
Thanks heaps

Can you tell us how did you play the files? Did you play it through playlist? Perhaps there's something strange with the playlist, try creat a new one, or open file explorer and click the mp3 files from there and see if it will play.

just for grins, have you put the mp3s in a folder called 'My Documents'? that used to be a requirement...so much so that I just do it automatically these days...create a 'My Documents' on your SD card and put them there....

It still is -- move your mp3's to My Documents or any folder under it.

I have an IPAQ 3765 with a single dock sleve/ CFmemory.. and I DO NOT have My Documents on the CF Card. just two folders called music and videos. and it works just fine.. The OS is PPC2002 and Romver 2.14 or something like that (the latest). i had also made sure that the Media Player also had all the updates applied.
This sounds a bit drastic, but my version of ActiveSync allows you to backup the complete machine.. I suggest you backup the machine, and then do a hard re-set (not from the push button but off the switch.. this should (that's what they say) reset the rom OS. don't restore yet.. but now try to use your external media and see if the media player recognizes it. If it works, then do a restore, it should put everything back the way it was.. hope fully the error would not appear, but if it does, now atleast you have a start point to figure out what you added later on to have the media player behave that way. (btw, sorry if the instructions sound retarded :o )
I have the exact same problem with a couple songs, not all of them. What I figured was that it must be either a problem with the bitrate or a missing value on the file. I sometimes also get this problem on my mp3 player and its due to this. But as I said, it's not with all my songs, just a few.

Make sure that the files have been completely downloaded onto your pocket pc.
I get the same msg only when a part of the file is transferred. I'm not sure why this happens but I usually overrite the files with new versions from the desktop and then it all works fine.
It seems that downloads work best when I leave my pocket pc without any other programs open and not working on it for the few minutes

Greetings;
I found a link for a MP3 player that's free, here it is.
PocketDivX (http://www.divx.com/software/browse.php?cid=18)
Give that a try and let us know.
