Hi,

I returned the Ambicom Bluetooth adapter that I bought and got a Belkin F8T001. I'm trying to set it up per the instructions at http://64.62.234.58/bt_setup/, but I've run into problems. For some reason, it is not working correctly.

I enabled ICS on my LAN connection just like the instructions said, set the IP on the bluetooth card to 192.168.0.1, and made sure that my router was set to 10.10.1.1 so it wouldn't interfere. I'm able to connect my palm, but I get an ip on the palm of 0.0.0.0. When I try to ping any site, it says that it's trying to ping 14.0.0.234, and then I get a timeout error. I also can't browse anywhere.

I know that 14.0.0.234 is not the IP that I'm trying to ping to.

I used ipconfig /all to check my connections, and here's what I got...

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connect

Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-02-4F-EA-60-AE

Thanks

Those are the IPs of my router and the DNS that I use. Believe me, none of those are my actual IP. Neither of those IPs are useful.

And I did change the MACs listed above, just in case. ;)

A couple of things to look at:

Try and add to the DNS IP address of your primary (LAN) connection 10.10.1.1

Also ensure that you don't have Zonealarm or some other firewall blocking this set of addresses (allow the IP range as trusted).

Ensure that you have the Network address shared in the Bluetooth configuration.

I gave your suggestions a try, and none of them worked. I'm still not getting an IP on my palm, and when I ping, it always resolves to 14.0.0.###.

I made sure that my firewall was shut off.

I made sure that there was no way that my router was referencing 192.168.*.*.

This is driving me crazy.

Is it normal for the bluetooth adapter to just sit there and flash.

hey i have another solution maybe. it helped me get back onto a site that banned me. well long story. your router should have a mac address. mine was set to 00-00-00-00-00 than i changed it to my computers mac and i got into the site, might do the same for the bluetooth doggle. give it a try.

I went ahead and cloned my machine MAC, but it didn't make a difference. I uninstalled the belkin software and then went through the registry and got rid of any stray entries. I also uninstalled my firewall.

I hard reset my T3 and tried it without syncing.

None of this worked. I still can connect, but I don't get an IP on my palm, and I always get 14.0.0.234 as the IP when I ping.

I can't think of anything else to try.

Does anyone else have the Belkin F8T001 adapter? Is it normal for it to just sit there and flash over and over again?

What do you get when you get to the Testing Configuration section of the original website you followed the instructions from?

Eg. Hit Connect, then View Log.

What does it show for local IP address, gateway address, and DNS addresses?

It shows a local IP of 0.0.0.0, a gateway of 0.0.0.0, and a DNS of 192.168.0.1.

It won't give my palm an IP.

I got it working. I had to manually assign my palm an IP. Once I did that, I was able to connect.

Thanks to everyone for all the help and ideas!
