Hi,
Can someone tell me more about the use of a Ipaq together with a navigation package like Tomtom or Navman. Which system is preferable?

Can all the navigators be used behind the screen, no matter it is a heatresistant screen. I heard this as influence on the reception of the GPS...

Can the CF slot in the bracket of the navigation system also use for other things, like downloading photo's. This way I shouldn't buy an extra bracket.

Thanks:)

Hi

I bought an Ipaq 3950 + Nav System from PC world - I then found it only works in the UK and Compaq/HP do not intend to sell Europe Software Maps etc, thus new software must be bought from TomTom.
I took it back and went to London and bought an IPAQ + NavMan set - The UK System with sound works fine, however the Eurpean maps will not be available until late November as a free upgrade to existing users.

PowerLOC's Destinator works with the 3970 without the need for expansion sleeves. After the software is installed the antenna plugs into the expansion slot at the bottom of the iPAQ. The antenna also plugs into the cigarette lighter adapter and supplies power to the iPAQ. I use the Destinator with a naked 3970, storing the maps on an SD card.

Thanks for replying so quickly!

First the destinator. It looks like a great device, but in europe it is only delivered with a small amount of maps. I can buy extra maps but then the system is much more expensive then other systems. (about 800 euro excl vat)

Well I must say my feelings say go for the Navman. But since the Navman has a fix receiver I'm affraid my metallize windscreen will disturb the gps. Maybe I have to find a store where they let me try the device....

Thanks

True Destinator can be pricey considering the costs of the maps. And their upgrade policy here in the US is unstated.
