I am guessing it is impossible but as I have a notebook that connects to my home lan via a wireless connection I am wondering whether I can do the same with my Psion 5MX.
There is a way of using a PCMCIA modem from a Psion isn't there? Does that mean I can also use a PCMCIA wireless card?

The main use for such a connection would be to access the internet. I have a mobile with an IR connection but it is expensive and I seem to be the only person that finds it fiddly and unreliable using a Psion and a Mobile phone together.

I am guessing it is impossible The "Psion PC Modem Card Adaptor" only supports PCMCIA modem cards, it cannot be used with any other type of device such as ethernet cards. To the best of my knowledge, networking a 5mx is impossible.

There is such a thing as an IRLan adaptor, that plugs into your LAN via the usual RJ45 socket, that the 5mx can talk to using a PPP internet connection. Clarinet are the manufacturer I've seen mentioned.

I assume that last one is an IR connection. Yes I have seen a few people making IR wireless access points

I have been experimenting with networking my 5MX via an IR access point from Compex (iRE201). I've had limited success so far, as I can connect to the web page used to configure my ADSL router but so far nothing outside of my home LAN. However I think my problems are with my ADSL box rather than the Psion or IR box - so I have not finished yet.
I'll be reporting back.................
