Yahoo Instant Messenger on Psion

Hi Guys,

Hope somebody can help me out with this one.

I want to chat on Yahoo on my 7Book. Downloaded the Yahoo Messenger Force. But everytime I try and log in it tells me th either I'm not connected or there I'm not connected.

I'm definitly connected as I'm surfing with Opera and I'm definitly using the right username/password.

Any ideas?

I take it we are talking about Yahoo Messenger Force from Ruksun, here?

I have tried and failed with this before, but decided to give it another go in the light of your query. I get the same result as you - an error saying check connection, username, password. :mad:

I've also tried the Java version on Yahoo's website

Can't get that to connect on either the Psion or PC!

I don't suppose it's much help to you, Ifor, but Ruksun's MSN Messenger Force works just fine - I use it daily. Can anyone else shed light on the Yahoo problems, please?

Yep, it was the Ruksun version. Their MSN version certainly works well enough.

I do know that Yahoo changed their comms type protocols a short while ago whicgh *really* upset all the jabber users ;-)

So, I would guess that as their have been no updates from Ruksun that the old version will never work.

That seems to explain it then - same problem with Ruksun's version of AIM, it would seem. It's a pity they have lost commitment to these apps.

Thank goodness for the MSN version - I hope nothing changes there. I also have nICQ, which works fine but is not very user-friendly.

I have experienced the same problem with Yahoo IM. Such a shame. I have an NEC HPC and I can download my contact names, but then it says that I have the wrong server or that their server is down. Who knows. Maybe I'll look for a registry editor and see if I can change some settings. Please reply if anyone can get yahoo IM to work. Thanks
